๐๐๐๐๐๐,๐๐/๐๐/๐๐๐๐: Minister of Rural Development and Community Housing, Eng. Mariano ASSANAMI Sabino,together with local authorities, visited the papaya California farm planted by the farming community in Eukise village, Lautem Administrative Post, Lautem Municipality.
The purpose of the visit is to see and hear the concerns of the producer community so that the government can find alternatives to address their concerns so that they can continue to produce in larger quantities to meet market demand.
California papaya is newly planted short stems with large fruit, but time has entered the 4 years, papaya began to increase in length because of the problem of clean water because the fruit began to crack.
Minister MDRHC, highly appreciates the initiative of farmers who grow papaya that they themselves seek market in Dili, their products to enter the supermarket Lita Store is an advance that the Government through the Ministry of Rural Development will have how they can grow more so as to respond to the market.
At the moment we have technicians from the Ministry of Rural Development here with them, so we have a fund of 40 to 50 thousand dollars that we can put into the village, so that they can have access to it as a starting point for them to do business to improve their lives, and then they can pay it back in stages.
For the water research, they will make a line of coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture to see how possible it is as they are currently clearing the land to expand their farm to plant more papaya.
