๐ƒ๐ข๐ฅ๐ข,๐Ÿ๐Ÿ“/๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ’/๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’: The Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for Social Affairs, Minister of Rural Development and Community Housing, Eng. Mariano ASSANAMI Sabino, on behalf of the Government, expressed gratitude and praised the glory and honor to the authors of the Carnation Revolution, who today are recognized throughout the world.
April 25 Timor-Leste celebrated a historic day to reflect on the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution, which began in Portugal and paved the way for African nations colonialized by the Portuguese to achieve independence.
This historic moment also granted freedom to Timor-Leste, but the people had to wait 24 years to achieve independence. However, this day marks a significant moment in the history of the people of Timor-Leste and the countries of the (CPLP) Community of Portuguese.
“We express our respect, and we raise honor and glory to the military (Captains) who led this revolution, who will go down in histories as the Captains of April. Some have already passed away, others still live to witness this important day of celebrating the 50th anniversary. We express our deep gratitude to those still alive, to the families of the deceased Captains and to the State of Portugal, which played a decisive role in the history of our Country”, said the Vice Prime Minister, during the 24th Anniversary Ceremony of the Timor-Leste Firefighters, in Caicรณli.
The Carnation Revolution, carried out by a new generation of soldiers, established goals and objectives to put an end to the dictatorial and authoritarian regime, which was installed in Portugal for 48 years and thus begin the process of decolonization of the then Portuguese Colonies.
