๐€๐ข๐ฅ๐ž๐ฎ, ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ”/๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ“/๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’: The General Coordinator of the Specialized Unit of the Office of the Coordinating Minister for Social Affairs (MCAS), Arcรขngelo Leite, on behalf of the Vice Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Social Affairs (MCAS), opened the awareness raising on the prevention of HIV/AIDS transmission, which took place in Aldeia Seloi Malere, in the Administrative Post of Aileu, in the Municipality of Aileu.
In his intervention, the General Coordinator of MCAS, stated that the objective of this activity is to carry out an awareness campaign in order to share information about the prevention of the transmission of HIV/AIDS, as a means of protecting Timor-Leste from this disease that threatens to take lives .
โ€œTo date, the disease has no cure, therefore, the IX Constitutional Government, through the National Institution to Combat HIV/AIDS (INSIDA), has already defined policies and strategies to protect the Timorese from the transmission of this devastating disease,โ€ said Arcรขngelo Leite.
He added, “As human beings, we have the same rights, so we ask families and the community in general not to discriminate, stigmatize or isolate people infected with HIV/AIDS, as this disease is mainly transmitted through sexual relations,” he said. the General Coordinator of the MCAS Office.
Before concluding his intervention, the General Coordinator asked young people and adults of working age to maintain responsible behavior to prevent the transmission of the disease, avoiding free sexual relations, because when someone is affected by this disease, it is not just a threat to their life , but also to the future of the Nation.
Furthermore, the leader expressed his appreciation to community leaders who willingly collaborate with the government in sharing knowledge with all young people and adults on how to prevent the disease, including reducing stigma and discrimination against those affected.
